The San Raphaël Birth Center is officially open!
The San Raphael Birth Center is officially open and the women who have been getting their prenatal care with us since May are excited about the opportunity to give birth in this safe, comfortable, and well-equipped space. We had been preparing for this milestone for some time by ensuring that the Midwives who would take on shifts at the new campus were adequately prepared. They each trained for more than 6 months at the bustling Cap Haitien Center. Now it's their time to shine!
Our Midwife team has grown to 11 Midwives between the two centers.
Baby #1 🎉
On Janurary 16th, the first baby arrived at the San Raphaël Birth Center, just 6 days after we opened our doors! It was an uncomplicated birth and mom, Loudina, and baby, (not yet named) are doing well. This proud Dad was happy to see his people smiling. “I am happy to see the amount of attention the Midwives gave to my wife. I was nervous because my wife did not get the attention she needed. That wasn’t a problem here.” Birth is not easy, and sometimes scary complications can arise. But having Midwives by their side can help families feel safe. We're thrilled to be helping families in a new area of Haiti access the kind of maternity care they desire and deserve. Thank you for ensuring that Loudina and her family were well-cared for during her birth.
